Me
I have been working as a freelance illustrator and designer since 2003 but my interests turned to printing after enjoying a short course in silk screen printing at Brighton Independent Printmakers in 2007. I found that my illustration methods suited this printing process well. I design my images in Adobe Illustrator and the digital files are easy to edit. From here I can create accurate stencils for each layer of the image.
I am inspired by endless subjects in the natural world; birds, plants and the shifts in seasons in particular. To these simple subjects I like to apply a graphical style inspired by mid-century illustration and design.
My prints have been well received and several designs have been published as high quality greetings cards in the UK and abroad by Woodmansterne, UK Greetings and Art Angels.
I exhibit locally as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival and have also enjoyed success at the Battersea Affordable Art Fair for the past 3 years. Having recently had a baby I have just resumed work after a while away from the print studio.
My Prints
A giclée is a high quality ink jet print generated by a professional standard Epson printer. My designs are reproduced in fade resistant, archival quality pigment inks. Unless otherwise stated Innova fine art heavy weight paper is used.
I produce all my own silk screen prints. This process uses a series of stencils on a (silk) screen through which the different colours (or layers) of the design are aligned to print over the top of each other eventually forming the full colour artwork.
Screen printing is quite labourious and messy yet a very satisfying process!
Whether you are choosing a giclée or screen print, all are individually signed and numbered as part of a limited edition.
