Brighton Open Houses: part 2

The only show I am taking part in May is the at the Claremont Hotel in Hove. It is in waddling distance for me so not too much of an effort to contribute some of my prints.

The Claremont is a 5 star hotel on Second Avenue and they are a regular venue on the Hove Open House trail. The walls are packed full of a broad variety of prints and photography - all for sale with the money going direct to the artists.

It is well worth a visit and makes a very pleasant place to take a rest and maybe get a coffee as you take in a few Open Houses in the area.

Vintage Tea Break

As mentioned in the previous post, I was looking for a few references of vintage ceramics; the image below is one of the resulting illustrations. This is a theme I really love so there will be more to follow, also planning to do a few prints featuring vintage ceramics.

Back at Last!

Phew! once we were settled into our lovely new flat in placid Hove it took another 2 weeks for 02 to get us reconnected to the internet. I don’t understand how it can take quite that long to sort something like this but boy, was it starting to cheese me off! These days we are all encouraged by  banks/stores/utility companies to manage our lives online so it really did cause quite an inconvenience to be offline this long, let alone try and run a business from home therefor today is actually quite exciting (how sad!)

Ok, one has to keep things in perspective - in the grand scheme of things this is no issue, I’m over it now! Back to work.

The first thing I created was ‘Safe in the Burrow’. A new giclee print which will soon be available on Etsy. I’d had a sketch in my note book for months and in just over one day I managed to finally get it out into vectors - a little early Autumnal offering.

Coffee Time

This simple scene put a little joy in my heart (plus some cholestoral) what a lovely colour combination mmmmm! so good infact it occurs to me I have already used this colour scheme for a giclee print soon to be printed and then available on Etsy.

Etsy Store Now Open

I’ve finally managed to start setting up the Etsy store I’ve been harping on about for the past couple of months! So far there are only 4 giclee prints ready to buy but it’s something I shall be gradually stocking up over the coming weeks.

I won’t be posting up items until they are actually physically printed which I can’t do from my home studio - I rely on my good chum Graham Carter for that. He is master of the printer we affectionately know as ‘The Beast’.

It’s big and slow but produces great quality prints so, thanks Mr C!

Etsy - Miss Brigette

In the process of forming my Etsy store (it is coming along-gradually) I came across the delightful prints of missbrigette’s shop. These are all from original gouche paintings and collages and they sell at such fantastic prices too. Her style, colour palette and quirky subjects are all so mid-century and right up my street!
